The focus of this conference is “Innovation for Growth” in Latin America, it is aimed to discuss how innovation is a key driver for development in the region and present the perspectives from leaders of the economic, political and academic arenas.
We are convinced that new ways of thinking and doing business are indispensable for Latin America to take advantage of the economic growth it has experienced recently, make it sustainable and achieve world-class competitiveness. We would like this conference to serve as an inspiration to ignite new ideas and disruptive business models in Latin America and other emerging markets.
Our long tradition of innovation provides us the appropriate setting and mindset for this. In addition to this, the Latin Conference aims to enhance the public learning by getting first-hand insight from current and distinguished leaders from the region. We are pleased to host the 11th Latin Conference, Innovation for Growth of the School of Management that will be held on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th.
The Latin Conference is a student-driven event held once a year that gathers the most influential leaders from business, government, academia, and society in Latin America and guest speakers from the US.
They share their views about opportunities and challenges for the Region to an audience of more than 500 people from the Boston Area, including business people, students and professors from our school, and other important educational organizations. We are pleased to host the 11th Latin Conference, Innovation for Growth of the School of Management that will be held on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th.
In previous editions of the Latin American Conference, several keynote speakers attended, among them Mr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari, former President of Mexico, Mr. Leonel Fernandez, President of Dominican Republic and Mr. Enrique Iglesias, former President of Inter-American Development Bank; as well as important MIT members like Dr. Susan Hockfield, President of MIT; and MIT Sloan’s Dean, Prof. Richard Schmalensee. Previous editions gathered more than 500 people and were covered by more than 15 news articles in different Latin-American countries and the US. The organization of the conference will be an open effort to the entire Latin Community at Sloan.
Our belief is that sharing views, ideas, and advancements through regular meetings, Sloanspace, and informal conversations, will encourage ownership over this challenge and creativity. This entails a great opportunity to promote our school in our countries and in the New England region. This effort has been organized under 5 main areas that are described in other posts of this website. The people who will lead these areas are grouped in an Organizing Committee.
